A woman and a man were killed, while 22 others were injured in a road accident at Omanthai on the A9 Kandy–Jaffna Road last night (17).
Police said a cab traveling from Vavuniya towards Jaffna had overturned after the driver lost control and collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction. The injured included 10 women, seven men, and five children, who were admitted to the Vavuniya Hospital.
The deceased, a 38-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, were residents of Dharmapuram, Kilinochchi. Their bodies have been placed at the Vavuniya Hospital morgue.
The lorry driver was taken into custody, while Omanthai Police are conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
