Qatar’s Defence Ministry says its forces have successfully shot down two Iranian Sukhoi Su-24 fighter jets and intercepted multiple ballistic missiles and drones amid the escalating Middle East conflict triggered by US-Israeli attacks on iran.

In a statement on Monday, Qatari authorities said the Qatari Amiri Air Force downed two Iranian aircraft approaching from iran, and that its air defence systems also brought down seven ballistic missiles and five drones launched toward qatar. All threats were intercepted before reaching their intended targets, according to the ministry.

The announcement comes as tensions across the region continue to increase after a series of strikes by the united states and israel on iranian targets, including senior leaders, followed by retaliatory missile and drone attacks from iran against gulf states and US military installations.

Qatar, a key host of US military facilities in the gulf, has repeatedly condemned attacks on its territory and stressed its right to defend its sovereignty. Authorities urged residents and visitors to remain calm and to follow official guidance as defensive operations remain active. (Newswire)
