With the onset of the annual Southwest Monsoon (SWM) season, the country has been experiencing heavy rainfall over the past few days.
The Department of Meteorology has forecasted an above-normal rainfall in the Western, Southern, Central, and Sabaragamuwa provinces in the coming weeks as atmospheric disturbances/low pressure systems/cyclones are likely over and in the vicinity of Sri Lanka during the latter half of May and first half of June.
