General Secretary of the Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC) and Member of Parliament Jeevan Thondaman, who is currently on an official visit to India, met with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday (Sept. 19).
Thondaman conveyed his appreciation for India’s continued assistance to Sri Lanka, particularly in recent years when the country faced severe economic challenges. He noted that India’s support has been vital in helping Sri Lanka stabilize during a critical period.
The meeting also covered the multifaceted nature of India’s assistance, ranging from financial aid and credit lines to development cooperation. Thondaman said the discussions were highly productive and underscored the importance of further strengthening bilateral ties. (Newswire)
