Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa visited the Orthopedic Department of the National Hospital in Colombo this morning (20) to inspect a pilot project producing prosthetic limbs using modern technology.
The initiative, implemented with the sponsorship of the Humanitarian for Empowerment Institute of Switzerland, aims to locally manufacture high-quality artificial limbs using advanced materials and techniques. Officials said the project has already demonstrated strong results, offering new hope for persons with disabilities in Sri Lanka.
The Minister engaged with specialists and technicians involved in the project and observed the manufacturing process of the prosthetic limbs. He commended the team for adopting modern technology to enhance mobility and rehabilitation services in the country. (Newswire)
