20 public sanitary facilities to be constructed spending Rs. 525 Mn

The Cabinet has approved the construction of 20 sanitary facilities systems in urban areas across Sri Lanka for a cost of Rs. 525.29 million. 

The government says it has decided to construct sanitary facilities, including standard lavatory systems, due to a lack of sufficient facilities that can be used by the public and local and foreign tourists visiting urban areas. 

According to the urban development plans, appropriate places to establish facilities proposed by the Urban Development Authority have been identified. 

As such, the Cabinet approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Urban Development, Construction and Housing to execute the proposed sanitary facilities systems construction project at the following places.

  2. Sigiriya Hotel Junction 
  3. Lake circus of Nuwara / Kandy 
  4. Gregory Lake, Nuwara Eliya 
  5. Kinniya Beach, Trincomalee 
  6. Marble Beach, Trincomalee 
  7. Nilaweli Coastal Area, Trincomalee 
  8. Pasikuda, Batticaloa 
  9. Ruwanweliseya Parking Area 
  10. Lankapura, Polonnaruwa 
  11. Jaffna Kourikattuwan Jetty complex 
  12. Hikkaduwa Coastal Belt 
  13. Hirikatiya, Dikwella 
  14. Pareiwella Coastal Park, Tangalle 
  15. Nine arch bridge, Ella 
  16. Moragolla Beach, Beruwala
  17. Mt. Lavinia railway station 
  18. Negombo Costal Park Project, Phase I 
  19. Battaramulla Junction 
  20. Badagamuwa forest part, Kurunegala (Newswire)
