Former Sri Lanka cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara has raised concerns over alleged discriminatory treatment by Ryanair ground staff at Dublin Airport, describing an incident involving his family as “shocking” and “unacceptable.”

In a post on X, Sangakkara questioned whether other passengers had experienced similar treatment from Ryanair gate personnel in Dublin.

“Has anyone experienced discriminatory gate personnel @Ryanair in Dublin? I with my family just did and it was shocking,” Sangakkara wrote.

He criticised the manner in which staff addressed his family, alleging that procedures were mishandled and that staff displayed threatening behaviour.

“Unacceptable for any passenger. First bad experience in Dublin,” he added.

The former cricketer did not provide further details about the incident or specify what led to the confrontation.

His post also drew a response from Sri Lankan technology entrepreneur Sanjiva Weerawarana, who said he had experienced discrimination during his years living and travelling in Western countries. (Newswire)
