Dry weather expected in most parts of Sri Lanka today

Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 pm today (26).

According to the Department of Meteorology, mainly dry weather will prevail over the other parts of the island.

Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts in the morning. 

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, mainly fair weather will prevail over the sea areas around the island. 

Winds will be north-easterly or variable in direction. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota. 

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be moderate at times. The other sea areas around the island will be slight. (Newswire)
