The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning for the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Eastern and North-central provinces and the Matara, Hambantota and Vavuniya districts.
According to the department, red and amber alerts have been issued to several districts, effective until 11.30 pm today.
The public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
