Four killed in three separate road accidents

Four individuals were reported dead in three separate road accidents reported in the Mahiyanaganaya, Lunuwila, and Oddusuddan areas.

According to the Police, two persons were reported dead after the car they were travelling in had overturned into the Viyana Canal in Mahiyanganaya early this morning.

The deceased are two men, aged 53 and 56, and residents of Buththla and Okkampitiya. The Mahiyanganaya Police is conducting investigations. 

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old resident of Kuliyapitiya was reported dead after being hit by a van in the Wennappuwa area on the Colombo-Puttalam Road this morning.

The Police said the van travelling from Chilaw to Colombo had knocked down a pedestrian in Lunuwila. 

The man had succumbed to injuries at the Marawila Hospital. The Wennappuwa Police is conducting investigations. 

Furthermore, a 44-year-old man from Kokilai has died after crashing his motorcycle into a cow while travelling from Mullaitivu to Oddusuddan.

The victim, who had sustained serious injuries, had been admitted to the Mancholai Hospital and later transferred to Chilaw Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries. 

The Oddusuddan Police is conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
