
The Sri Lanka Police have disclosed a string of serious crimes attributed to ‘Bus Lalith’, a 36‑year‑old organized criminal from Kalutara South, who was brought back to Sri Lanka today after being tracked down in Dubai under a Red Notice.
According to the Police, the suspect is wanted for multiple violent incidents, including:
- 2013 Hanwella assault — attacking a person with a sharp weapon.
- 2021 Neluwanthuduwa arson — setting fire to a business premises and a lorry.
- 2021 shooting attempt — injuring a person and attempting murder in front of a businessman’s house.
- 2022 Hanwella attack — cutting and seriously injuring three persons.
- 2022 Haraspura shooting — aiding and conspiring in a murder case now before the Avissawella Magistrate’s Court.
- 2023 Padukka double murder.
- 2024 Hanwella murder.
- 2024 Neluwanthuduwa businessman murder.
- 2025 Kosgama shooting — injuring three persons in a three‑wheeler.
- 2025 Kollupitiya firearm case — providing a seized T‑56 rifle and ammunition to another suspect.
- 2025 Meegoda murder — killing a former Pradeshiya Sabha member.
- 2025 Meegoda escape incident — firing shots into the air to facilitate escape.
The Police also suspect the individual of involvement in drug trafficking, other organized crimes, and illegally acquired assets.
The suspect was escorted back to Sri Lanka in the early hours of today by a team of officers led by the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department. Further investigations are now underway. (Newswire)
