Litro Gas Lanka Ltd has assured the public that there will be no gas shortage, stating that sufficient stocks have been secured following a temporary supply disruption earlier this month.
In a statement issued today (19), the company said recent concerns in the market were due to a temporary shortage of LP gas cylinders caused by an unexpected surge in demand combined with a two-day supply interruption on 14 February 2026.
Litro said immediate measures have been taken to restore normal distribution.
According to the company, 284,000 domestic refill cylinders were issued on 17 and 18 February. A further 351,000 domestic refill cylinders will be released from today until Saturday to stabilize supply.
Litro also said that orders for adequate stocks have already been placed, with three shipments scheduled to arrive before the end of the month to further strengthen supply.
The company stressed that there is no need for panic buying and assured that there will not be any gas shortage in the future.
It was also observed that the sudden spike in demand may have been influenced by a reported shortage of Laugfs Gas in several areas, with some consumers opting to purchase Litro cylinders instead. This shift is understood to have contributed to the temporary increase in queues.(Newswire)
