Turkish Airlines flight TK 733 from Colombo to Istanbul landed safely at Bandaranaike International Airport at 12:28 a.m. following the reported technical issue. Airport authorities confirm all passengers and crew are safe.

Airport officials say there is no disruption to other flights at Bandaranaike International Airport, despite the emergency situation involving the Turkish Airlines aircraft.

A Turkish Airlines passenger flight bound for Istanbul reported a landing gear malfunction shortly after departing Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on Tuesday night, prompting emergency procedures, airport officials said.

The aircraft, an Airbus A330 operating a scheduled service to Istanbul, is currently circling in the air to burn fuel ahead of a precautionary emergency landing at BIA.

Airport authorities said fire and medical emergency teams have been placed on standby at the airport as a safety measure. The flight crew has remained in constant contact with air traffic control while carrying out standard emergency protocols.

BIA officials said further updates will be provided once the aircraft attempts to land and safety checks are completed.. (Newswire)
