The Cabinet has approved two major loan schemes to support businesses affected by Cyclone Ditwah, aimed at reactivating micro, small and medium‑scale enterprises and providing capital assistance for recovery.
The RE‑MSME Disaster Relief Loan Scheme and the Expanded Disaster Relief (EDR) Loan Scheme will be implemented during 2025 and 2026 with an allocation of Rs. 10,000 million.
The programs are designed to provide immediate financial relief to restart businesses quickly after disasters and to accelerate the restoration of the national economy.
From 2026 onwards, the two schemes will operate as a combined program. Under the initiative, Rs. 8,061.4 million in loan funds has already been arranged for 3,968 enterprises affected by the cyclone, with the participation of 15 financial institutions.
The progress of the schemes was presented to the Cabinet by the President, in his capacity as Minister of Finance.
