Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa undertook an inspection tour of Singapore’s next-generation industrial innovation park, the Jurong Innovation District, a landmark development designed to support advanced manufacturing and future-ready industries.
The Jurong Innovation District combines infrastructure-empowered industrial and office spaces tailored for both large factories and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), creating an integrated ecosystem for production, research, and innovation. The district also features residential facilities, underground logistics networks, and advanced storm-water drainage systems, reflecting a holistic approach to modern urban-industrial planning.
A key focus of the district is the promotion of new business start-ups, with shared facilities, smart manufacturing environments, and close linkages between industry, research institutions, and training centres. The development demonstrates how carefully planned industrial zones can drive productivity, sustainability, and long-term economic growth.
During the inspection tour, Mr. Premadasa observed how next-generation infrastructure, technology-driven industrial spaces, and integrated living solutions are being used to build a competitive and resilient industrial ecosystem, offering valuable insights into future-oriented industrial development models.
