A 63 year-old Kazakh national drowned while swimming at Bentota Beach on the afternoon of Feb. 6, authorities said.
The victim was swept away by strong waves. Local residents rescued him and took him to Balapitiya Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His body has been placed in the hospital mortuary. Bentota police are investigating.
