Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will not attend this year’s United Nations General Assembly session, with the country instead represented at ministerial level.
At today’s Cabinet media briefing, Minister Vijitha Herath announced that as the Foreign Minister, he will address the General Assembly on September 28 on behalf of Sri Lanka.
The Minister further said that he is scheduled to depart for New York, USA, on September 26.
He noted that while the previous General Assembly session was attended by the President as Head of State, this time Sri Lanka’s participation will be led by the Foreign Minister. (Newswire)
