The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued landslide warnings for several areas in Kandy, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts, effective from 9.00 am today (03) until 9.00 am tomorrow (04).
A Level 3 (Red) “Evacuate” warning has been issued for the Pasbage Korale and Ganga Ihala Korale Divisional Secretariat divisions in Kandy District.
A Level 2 (Amber) “Be Alert” warning is in effect for Ududumbara and Udapalatha in Kandy District; Yatiyantota and Aranayake in Kegalle District; Ambagamuwa, Norwood, Nuwara Eliya, Kotmale East and Kotmale West in Nuwara Eliya District; and Opanayake, Imbulpe and Ratnapura in Ratnapura District.
A Level 1 (Yellow) “Be Aware” warning has also been issued for Panvila and Medadumbara in Kandy District, Deraniyagala and Dehiowita in Kegalle District, and Nivithigala and Kuruwita in Ratnapura District.
The NBRO has urged residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities, particularly in locations experiencing continuous heavy rainfall. (Newswire)
