
A large consignment of 42 motorcycle chassis and engines was seized in Kuliyapitiya following a police operation based on intelligence received by authorities. The raid was carried out under the supervision of Kuliyapitiya Division Superintendent of Police Janaka Karunasinghe.
During the same operation, police also discovered 190 bottles of high-value Japanese liquor inside the container, leading to the arrest of a suspect in connection with the incident. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene as part of the coordinated enforcement action.
Investigations indicate that the items were allegedly brought into the country under the guise of importing motorcycle spare parts from Japan.
The operation was conducted with the assistance of the Special Task Force and officers from the Divisional Crime Investigation Unit under the direct supervision of senior police officials.
