
Sri Lanka’s newly elected Chief Selector Pramodya Wickramasinghe on Thursday confirmed that Dasun Shanaka will continue as captain of the national T20 side, leading the team at the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2026.
Wickramasinghe said Shanaka will also captain Sri Lanka in the upcoming bilateral series against Pakistan and England as part of the team’s preparations for the World Cup.
He further confirmed that a 25-member preliminary squad has been selected for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with the final squad to be named closer to the tournament.
