Sri Lanka Parliament passes extension of state of emergency

The Parliament of Sri Lanka has passed the motion to approve the Public Security Ordinance, which includes provisions for Emergency Law, with a majority of 110 votes.

The Parliamentary vote held today saw 137 members vote in favour, while 27 voted against.

In March, the State of Public Emergency was extended in view of the war situation that has arisen in the Middle East region. (Newswire)
