
Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1 p.m. today, with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 millimeters likely in several provinces and districts, according to the weather forecast issued at 5:30 a.m. on Friday.
The Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-Western and Southern provinces, as well as the Anuradhapura and Mannar districts, are likely to experience heavy rainfall at some locations.
The public has been advised to take adequate precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Misty conditions are also expected in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts during the early morning hours.
Showers or thundershowers are expected at several locations in the sea areas around the island. Winds are forecast to be south-easterly or variable, with speeds ranging from 20 to 30 kilometers per hour.
Sea conditions are expected to remain slight under normal conditions. However, temporarily strong gusts of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour and very rough seas may occur during thundershowers.
