Digital signatures have been introduced for public officials to streamline and improve the efficiency of administrative tasks.
Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, Chandana Abeyratne, stated that the current government aims to digitize the public service and guide it onto a new path.
He made this statement while attending the event held yesterday (15th) to introduce digital signatures to officials of the Home Affairs Division under the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government.
The Minister further noted that his vision is to create an efficient public service that meets public expectations, and that this new technology should be extended to Grama Niladhari officers as well.
To facilitate smoother and more efficient administrative work, the process of digitizing the signatures of officials in District and Divisional Secretariats under the Home Affairs Division was launched in accordance with the Electronic Transactions Act No. 19 of 2006.
According to the provisions of the Electronic Transactions Act, LankaPay has been designated as the authority responsible for enabling digital signatures.
This will help eliminate delays caused by paper-based processes and enable a more efficient and productive public service. (Newswire)
