Negombo Mayor Robert Heenkenda of the National People’s Power (NPP)-led Negombo Municipal Council has resigned from his position, according to reports.
He is said to have stepped down due to personal reasons. Heenkenda had previously announced on several occasions that he would resign as Mayor but later reversed his decision.
However, local media reported that Heenkenda officially resigned from the post today (15). (Newswire)
