President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says a CID officer is currently overseas as part of ongoing investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks.

Speaking on the matter, the President also pledged a major crackdown on corruption in 2026, stating that it will see the largest number of “corrupt individuals, fraudsters, and thieves” brought before the courts.

He stressed that no individual would be spared, regardless of status or connections, adding that authorities will not consider whether suspects are “former presidents, wives, sons, or any other relatives” when pursuing justice.

Meanwhile, he revealed that legal proceedings are set to accelerate, with 10 corruption-related cases and 5 criminal cases scheduled to be heard in court during the course of this month. (Newswire)
