Showers are expected in some provinces today, due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone, where winds from the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere converge, affecting Sri Lanka’s weather.
According to the Department of Meteorology, showers or thundershowers will occur at most places of the island during the afternoon or night.
Showers may occur in the Southern and Western provinces and the Puttalam district in the morning.
Heavy falls of about 100 mm are likely at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Eastern and North-central provinces.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island.
Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be 20-35 kmph.
The sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
