Attorney-at-Law Manoj Gamage addressed the media regarding the health condition of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and expressed criticism over ongoing legal proceedings involving former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.

Gamage noted that the former President is currently receiving hospital treatment. “Mahinda Rajapaksa is ill, and even at this moment, he is receiving hospital treatment,” he stated, adding that his condition is not critical and is showing normal improvements.

However, Gamage raised concerns over the political timing and what he described as a lack of humanitarian consideration, stating: “However, I think what we all know is that at a time when he is sick, particularly when the protection of a spouse is needed at such a moment, the government is moving to imprison Shiranthi Rajapaksa.”

Emphasizing the necessity of a spouse’s presence, Gamage remarked, “We know in our homes as well, when the husband is sick, at least the wife needs to be there to give the medicine, ” Describing the situation as painful and sensitive, he highlighted ongoing political tensions surrounding legal actions against prominent figures.
