Vietnam Airlines has commenced direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo, operating three weekly services to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
The inaugural flight was welcomed at BIA with a ceremonial water cannon salute organised by Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited.
A traditional Kandyan dance performance was also held to welcome passengers, while the inaugural event included a cake-cutting ceremony marking the launch of the new air connection between Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
Arriving passengers were presented with Ceylon Tea packs sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
The new service strengthens direct air connectivity between Sri Lanka and Vietnam and is expected to support tourism and travel between the two countries. (Newswire)
