SL Consul General in Mumbai meets Maharashtra Minister

The Consul General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai, Priyanga Wickramasinghe, paid a courtesy call on Minister of Marketing and Protocol of Maharashtra State of India, Jaykumar Rawal, recently (16 Sept.).

According to the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai, the discussions focused on enhancing trade and investment between Sri Lanka and India and the potential to further promote two-way tourism. 

It was observed that the Ramayana Trail and the Buddhist Circuit can serve to strengthen people-to-people exchanges based on the millennia-old civilisational ties.

The Consul General also highlighted the unique potential of Sri Lanka as a premier wedding destination with many incentives for Indian couples selecting the island for their special day.

Consul General Wickramasinghe briefed the Minister on the upcoming Sri Lanka Economic and Investment Summit to be held on 2 and 3 December 2025 in Colombo and invited the participation of a business delegation from Maharashtra.

The Minister and Consul General also exchanged ideas on seeking mutually beneficial opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, ICT, green energy, start-up cooperation, gems and art diplomacy. 

It was agreed to explore the ample scope to deepen cooperation between Sri Lanka and Maharashtra to further strengthen economic, educational and cultural ties, reinforcing the vision of sustained collaboration between the two countries. (Newswire)
