A group of pensioners staged a protest in front of the Presidential Secretariat today, urging the government to address discrepancies in their pension payments.
It is reported that pensioners from several sectors, including the tri-forces and the Police, were among those protesting.
The protesters state that their pension sum was reduced between 2020-2024 due to the coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis.
They allege that, however, the current pension rate is higher than what is provided to them, urging authorities to increase their pension to the current rate.
Following the protest, a group of pensioners were escorted into the Presidential Secretariat for a discussion. (Newswire)
