A 46-year-old man was killed following a domestic dispute in the Vahaneri area of the Valaichchenai police division on Monday morning, police said.
Police said the victim sustained fatal injuries during an altercation at his residence, prompting an investigation by the Valaichchenai Police Station after a complaint was received.
According to preliminary investigations, the incident stemmed from a family dispute between the victim and his wife. Police said the man had allegedly attempted to assault his wife with a sharp object during the argument, after which the woman retaliated, resulting in his death.
The victim, a resident of the Vahaneri area in Valaichchenai, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body has been placed at the Valaichchenai Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examinations.
The suspect, a 42-year-old woman, has been arrested in connection with the incident. Valaichchenai police are continuing further investigations. (Newswire)
