The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a Sub-Inspector attached to the Gampaha Division Crimes Investigation Unit over alleged links with underworld leader Kehelbaddara Padme, police said.
According to investigators, the officer is suspected to have maintained a relationship with Padme, who was recently extradited from Indonesia along with four other organized crime figures.
The CID has launched further investigations into the extent of the officer’s alleged involvement with the underworld network. (Newswire)
