Showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 pm, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Heavy falls above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces and in the Anuradhapura district.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts in the morning.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle during the evening or night.

Winds will be South-easterly or variable. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Sea areas around the island will be slight.

Temporarily strong gusty winds 60-70 kmph and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
