The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for strong winds and rough seas in the sea areas extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
The advisory, valid until 10:00 am tomorrow (07), warns that these sea areas will be very rough at times, with strong gusty winds reaching 60–70 kmph.
Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into these waters until further notice and to remain attentive to future forecasts.
Meanwhile, the sea areas off the coasts extending from Batticaloa to Matara via Trincomalee, Kankasanthurai, Puttalam, Colombo, and Galle will also be rough at times, with gusty winds of 50–60 kmph. (Newswire)
