
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has rejected the bail request of former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena, who is being held in remand prison in connection with the incident of allegedly receiving a bribe during the purchase of Airbus aircraft.
Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered that Kapila Chandrasena be further remanded until April 17, stating that no special reasons had been revealed to grant bail.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued this order after considering the submissions made by officials of the Bribery Commission and the suspect’s lawyers.
On March 12, Former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena was arrested by the Bribery Commission over the alleged acceptance of a USD 2 million bribe linked to the Airbus aircraft deal. (Newswire)
