Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has requested the Speaker to reschedule the parliamentary debate on the current global situation for tomorrow, Wednesday, instead of postponing it.
The debate had originally been scheduled for Thursday (March 19) and Friday (March 20).
Addressing Parliament today (17), Premadasa pointed out that Friday coincides with the Ramazan festival, a religious day for Muslim MPs.
He therefore urged that the Friday session be shifted to Wednesday.
Responding to the request, Leader of the House Bimal Ratnayake noted that a decision on the matter will be taken during today’s meeting of the Parliamentary Business Committee. (Newswire)
