Sri Lanka has been honoured with the prestigious “Luxury Food Destination of the Year” award at the Travel & Taste Awards 2026 in the United Kingdom.
Chief Organiser of the Travel & Taste Awards, Ms. Alex Crosley, presented the award at the Sri Lanka Tourism promotion stand during the World Travel Market exhibition. The awards ceremony honors the world’s finest food-centric travel experiences across 17 categories, with winners selected by a panel of experts including spirits specialist Millie Milliken-Holdsham, food travel content creator Verna Gao, and hospitality connoisseurs Gina Jackson and Millie Kenny-Ryder.
The judging panel highlighted several factors behind the win, including boutique hotel groups redefining luxury on the island, a vibrant culinary scene, and the country’s presentation of indigenous natural produce. Sri Lanka Tourism stated that the recognition strengthens the nation’s position as an emerging luxury food and travel destination, highlighting its culinary diversity and high-quality dining experiences while supporting efforts to attract experience driven tourists.
