Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) Leader Mano Ganesan said in a televised interview that Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa confirmed his candidacy for the next presidential election during a meeting with several leaders of the Samagi Jana Sandhanaya.
He noted that the meeting was attended by Rauff Hakeem, Rishad Bathiudeen, Palani Thigambaram, V. S. Radhakrishnan, and himself.
Ganesan said Premadasa clearly stated he was preparing to contest the election and was firmly committed to that decision.
He added that the Tamil Progressive Alliance did not express a stance, as it is only a constituent party of the Samagi Jana Sandhanaya, and the decision remains with Premadasa.
