
Former Provincial Council member Jayalath Bandara Dissanayake, brother of former Minister S.B. Dissanayake, who was arrested in connection with a financial fraud case, was released on bail by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court.
The Magistrate today (15) ordered his release on two sureties of Rs. 10 million each and a cash bail of Rs. 50,000, while also imposing a travel ban preventing him from leaving the country.
The arrest followed investigations by the Financial and Commercial Crimes Investigation Unit of the Central Crimes Investigation Division, after a complaint was lodged alleging that Dissanayake had defrauded a resident of Weeraketiya of Rs. 27.5 million by promising to provide a liquor license.
