Rain expected in some Provinces today

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Northern provinces and in the Trincomalee district after 2.00 pm today.

According to the Department of Meteorology, mainly fair weather will prevail in the other areas of Sri Lanka. 

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in the Ampara district during the early hours of the morning. 

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Mullaitivu via Kankasanthurai. 

Mainly fair weather will prevail in the other sea areas around the island

Winds will be west or variable in direction, and the speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 40-45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota. 

The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota will be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will be slight. (Newswire)
