In a social media post, Infantino described the meeting as constructive, saying discussions focused on supporting infrastructure projects and strengthening cooperation between FIFA, the Sri Lankan government and the Football Federation of Sri Lanka.
“We spoke about supporting infrastructure projects and collaborating with the government and the Football Federation of Sri Lanka on development initiatives,” Infantino said.
He expressed enthusiasm about working with Sri Lanka to create more opportunities for aspiring footballers.
“I am excited to work in partnership to ensure the passion for football, talent and potential in this beautiful island nation find the right opportunities and pathways,” he added.
Infantino also highlighted the importance of youth football development, referring to the ongoing FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival as an opportunity for young players to showcase their abilities and gain international experience.
