Seven human skeletons have been unearthed during the ongoing excavation at Sittupatthu in Chemmani, Jaffna, as of yesterday morning.
The excavation began on May 15 following a court directive, after workers from the Nallur Pradeshiya Sabha discovered fragments of human bones on February 20 while clearing land for a construction project.
Based on a report submitted by the Jaffna Police, Jaffna Magistrate A. Ananda Rajah ordered an official excavation. The work is being carried out by a team of archaeologists led by Professor Raj Somadeva. (Newswire)
