The Colombo High Court today (09) ruled that former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena is guilty of corruption charges filed against him by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

Delivering the verdict, High Court Judge Mohamed Mihail announced the order in cases linked to Gunawardena’s tenure as Chairman of the Development Lotteries Board in 2006.

The charges alleged that Gunawardena caused financial loss to the government by obtaining vehicles on a rental basis for the institution, thereby committing the offence of corruption.
