Two Sri Lankans arrested at BIA with Rs. 53 Million worth of Kush

Two Sri Lankan businesswomen were arrested this morning at the Katunayake Airport while attempting to smuggle a stock of ‘Kush’ narcotics valued at approximately Rs. 53.2 million.

The suspects, aged 33 and 35, are residents of Dematagoda and Thotalanga in Colombo. 

They arrived at Katunayake at 10.55 am aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL‑403 from Bangkok, Thailand.

During inspections, officers of the Airport Police Narcotics Division discovered 5.372 kilos of Kush concealed in five airtight parcels hidden inside two travel bags carried by the women.

The suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today. 

The Airport Police Narcotics Division has launched further investigations into the incident. (Newswire)
