A local official of the Consulate General of India in Jaffna was reported dead in a road accident today, it was reported.
According to reports, the official had died in an accident involving his car and a tipper truck.
The accident had occurred around 4.45 am in the Omanthai Area in Vavuniya today.
The 52-year-old official had died, while his wife, son, and father-in-law, who also sustained serious injuries in the accident, have been admitted to the Vavuniya Hospital.
The woman injured in the accident is a lecturer at the University of Jaffna.
The accident is suspected to have occurred due to the official having fallen asleep at the wheel.
