Seven Grade 7 students from a school in Dambulla have been admitted to the hospital after coming into contact with a chemical substance.
Among the affected students are five male students and two female students.
It is reported that during the recent school holidays, monkeys had entered the school’s science lab.
When classes resumed today, students visited the lab and noticed damage to some of the items and a red-colored substance scattered on the floor.
The students had mistaken the scattered iron-identifying chemical substance for chilli powder and attempted to examine it by tasting it.
Following this exposure, they were admitted to the Dambulla Hospital. (Newswire)
