The Sri Lanka Police has arrested a total of 08 candidates in the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 am today, ahead of the upcoming Local Government Elections.
According to the Police, five supporters have also been arrested during this period.
The Police have also received four (04) complaints related to election violence and 15 concerning election law violations.
The Sri Lanka Police has received a total of 568 election-related complaints from 03 March to 05 May 2025.
Among the complaints, 116 are related to election violence, and 452 are concerning election law violations.
A total of 54 candidates and 204 supporters have been arrested, while 46 vehicles have been taken into Police custody during this period.
