President Anura Kumara Dissanayake praised outgoing Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardana for his service, highlighting his role in stabilizing the economy after the debilitating economic crisis.

Speaking at a farewell event at the Presidential Secretariat, the President commended Siriwardana’s dedication and leadership, and called for a values-driven public service focused on empathy and merit, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.

Young public officials have much to learn from the distinguished career of Mr Mahinda Siriwardana, a senior public servant with extensive experience and profound understanding, the President said.

Siriwardana, reflecting on his three-year tenure, described it as the most significant of his career. He also expressed his gratitude to President Dissanayake for maintaining confidence in him and allowing him to continue in the position despite a change in government leadership, noting that the President’s support was a great source of strength.

A commemorative token was presented to Siriwardana in recognition of his contributions. (Newswire)
