Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala today said investigations have revealed that the Easter Sunday attacks were not an isolated incident but part of a conspiracy that dates back to 2017.
Speaking in Parliament today (09), the Minister noted that the country will mark seven years since the Easter Sunday attacks on April 21 this year.
He also pointed out that Parliament has held 12 debates on the Easter Sunday attacks so far, with today’s discussion being the 13th debate on the matter.
The Minister further stated that a large number of cases related to the attacks are currently being heard before courts.
He added that due to ongoing judicial proceedings, certain information cannot be disclosed at this stage.
However, the Minister said that investigations have established that the Easter Sunday attacks were not a standalone incident but part of a series of events linked to a broader conspiracy.
The Minister reiterated that efforts to uncover the full truth behind the attacks and ensure justice for victims are continuing. (Newswire)
