Sri Lanka Under-19 clinched the three-match Youth ODI series 2-1 after edging India Under-19 by one wicket in a thrilling decider played in Hambantota on Thursday.
Chasing a target of 291, Sri Lanka reached 291/9 in the final over, with Chamika Heenatigala anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 84 off 68 balls. Senuja Wekunagoda also made a valuable contribution, scoring 67 off 59 deliveries.
Earlier, India U19 posted 290/8 in their 50 overs, led by VK Vineeth’s 131 off 136 balls and Lakshya Raichandani’s 61. Sethmika Seneviratne was Sri Lanka’s standout bowler with figures of 4/41, while Gimhan Mendis claimed 2/63.
For India, Anmoljeet Singh took 4/42 and Shavin Vinodh picked up 3/41, but Sri Lanka held their nerve to complete the chase and secure the series 2-1. (Newswire)
